Kaspersky & Windows Security Center

Win XP Home SP2
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Scanner 4.5.0.97
CPU AMD Athlon XP-A, 2079 MHz (12.5 x 166) 2800+

The SP2 Windows Security Center says the Anti-Virus is installed but the
status is unknown. But the status is displayed in the Kaspersky Anti-Virus
Control Center, so I suspect Kaspersky can't communicate its status to the
Windows Security Center.

On

It says K is compatible with SP2:
'Version 5.0 of Kaspersky Anti-Virus is fully compatible with Windows XP
Service Pack 2
Version 4.5 of Kaspersky Anti-Virus is compatible with one exception: on
systems based on AMD Athlon 64bit with DEP mode enabled "on access scanner"
can malfunction (KAV Monitor). '

My CPU isn't a 64 bit.

I realize I can get the Windows Security Center to *not* alert me to the
unknown status of the Anti-Virus, but I'd rather have the WSC work properly.
I see that Kaspersky is listed as a MS Anti-Virus Partner
http://www.microsoft.com/security/partners/antivirus.asp
Is there a way to get the Windows Security Center to monitor Kaspersky's
status?

Hi,

Is DEP active in software mode?

Control Panel/System/Advanced tab/Perfomance settings/Data Execution
Prevention tab.

Otherwise, this is an issue for KAV to resolve.

Kasperky has an update for SP2, v 5.0.149 or later.

Prod Kapersky into providing an update of the product that *does* tell
Security Center. Symantec has done so for NAV; eTrust did communicate,
and then has updated their engine to one that apparently does not. As
long as you make adequate manual checks, and preferably have the AV
update automatically, the SC is not really doing anything for you
