1st problem started Sunday
Internet Explorer 6 stopped working - tried reinstalling - still nothing
when you click on it. ( but email is ok)
2nd Problem started late Sunday
Windows Explorer slows to a crawl, not quite dead stop but very, very slow
3rd Problem Desk started Monday
Desk top icons do not open properly, I have some folders on my Desktop, if I
click on it the folder opens ok, but if I then click on an icon in the
folder everything freezes.

Virus checked pc and all is ok

So all in all a good week so far. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Open the Internet Options applet in Control Panel
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" on the Advanced tab.
You may also have to set the Home Page to about:blank

Then eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
