GESH you have said so much CRAP in here that its actually FUNNY!

Of course you mean every single hatred word that has oozed through your maw.

The reason he hangs around here is because Alias says that anyone can
install Ubuntu. That is correct. Once Ubuntu is up, there is almost nothing
one can do with it except look at the icons on the desktop. That is why
Alias is here. He uses his computer for browsing and e-mail. Ubuntu is
great at that. If you want to run a program, then you need XP or Vista!

Now I understand why Bill Yawn couldn't figure out how to install Ubuntu.
Although he was successful in booting up the Ubuntu liveCD, when he got to
the desktop, he was too stupid to double click on the Install icon and
install the OS. He sat there peering at his desktop and scratching his head
for a couple days and then figured, 'piss on this, I just can't install
Ubuntu'. It took him a couple more days of contemplating his problem before
he removed the liveCD and rebooted his computer back into Vista. Now he
lurks around this newsgroup telling everyone who will listen how crappy
Ubuntu is and how unfit it is to do the job.

Cheers.

AlexB and Bill Yawn are 11 years old (at least mentally). I don't know how
old On the Bridge! is, but by his intelligence and ability to peg AlexB for
what he is, I'd guess he's an adult.

Cheers.

How come everyone's having so much trouble with Vista? I'm a 65-year-old
woman who is having none with my Vista (Home Premium) desktop machine.
Have it networked to our XP SP2 desktop and my husband's laptop. I started
with a Commodore 64, back in about 83, but am no techie. Are most folks
just that afraid of change?
LesleyO

Yes! LOL

I agree with you completely. If us older folks can all get Vista to just do
what we want it to do, why do the others have so much trouble? Didn't we
teach them to think for themselves? These children need to get back to the
basics and start reading the instructions, instead of just assuming
everything will be the same.

By the way, my wife and I both use Vista, separate printers, shared DSL, but
I saved my old Windows 98se machine for the grandkids to play games on,
without it being connected to the 'net.

If you would be satisfied with a reduced functionality laptop, go for Linux.
Don't believe me ? Try it.

Sorry, I don't have any laptops. They're expensive both to buy and
repair and, being as I don't do much traveling, unnecessary for me. That
said I know people who have Ubuntu on a lap top and they're quite happy
with it.

My opinion (yes, I am 58, which to many people means that I am a
"dinosaur" "ancient" or "an old worthless fool") on the differences between
my generation and that of the newest generations.

MY GENERATION:
If you work harder than the person next to you and do better work than
that person you have a better chance of retaining your job in the event of
an economic slowdown.
Treat everyone with respect, regardless of how other people treat you.
You will sleep much better at night and have no reason to regret your
actions.
The people you meet on the way up are the same people you will meet on
your way down so be careful of your actions.
You are entitled to nothing. What you receive is based upon what you
give and the gains you achieve are proportional to the efforts invested.
You are responsible for everything that happens in your life so don't
blame others for the repercussions you suffer based upon your own lack of
initiatives or incorrect decisions.
Life is not fair. Although everyone has the same opportunities these
opportunities are harder for some people to reach due to their inherent lack
of resources. You will have to endeavor to overcome these obstacles.
If you fail to succeed or you are simply facing hurdles and hardships
in your efforts, don't give up. It is better to try and fail than to not try
at all.
Put forth your own effort when trying to overcome a problem. Don't
expect someone else to do your work for you.
Advancement should be based upon effort and not the fact you have done
something longer than others or the fact that you know someone.
You should always invest some of your own time for the betterment of
people who do not enjoy the situations you find yourself in and you should
do it anonymously. Seeking credit for helping others is an indication you
are seeking to help yourself rather than the people who need it.
Riches and wealth have nothing to do with money. It has everything to
do with your children, spouse and family.
Never cause harm to others while trying to achieve your objectives.
Your fellow man is more than just detritus blocking your way.
Be careful about how you speak to people. You should not belittle them,
call them harsh names or use vulgarities in your speech. It reflects badly
upon your upbringing and brings causes to your parents.

NEW GENERATIONS:
Why should it matter how hard I work? I deserve the same things as the
people who work harder than me. I am, therefore I deserve.
I will treat people in any manner I choose and I don't give a damn what
they think about it. I don't lose sleep over anything.
I'll treat my friends and coworkers in whichever manner I choose. I
have the right to act however I wish and I couldn't care less what they
think of me.
I am entitled to everything other people possess. The first thing I
think of upon awakening every day is "what can I do for myself today". It
shouldn't matter that other people have sacrificed and worked harder than
me.
I am not responsible for everything that happens to me. It's my
parents' fault and my teachers' fault for not forcing me to do the things I
should have done of my own accord.
Life sucks. I give up. Why should I have to work harder than others. I
am entitled to everything other people have.
I have already tried once or twice. I'll show them. I give up. I quit.
I still don't understand why people don't feel sorry for me.
Jesus, this is hard. I don't have the time to put forth my own effort
to solve this problem. Other people have overcome the same problem so I will
ask them for the answer.
Why do you make more money than me and/or why do you have a better job
than me. I've been doing this longer than you. That's not fair.
Why should I care whether or not someone has food to eat, a place to
live, access to medical care or suffers from disfiguring or debilitating
diseases or conditions. I have better things to do, such as getting high or
playing video games all day. Besides, if I choose to help someone I deserve
all the credit I can get.
I need all the money I can get. I don't care about or need my family.
If I have money I can buy everything I need or want.
I don't care what I do or how I act while I am attempting to achieve my
goals. I don't give a damn about how my actions affect others.
I am entitled to freedom of speech and freedom of expression. I'll say
whatever I wish when I want to say it and I don't care how it affects other
people.

I thank my parents, from the bottom of my heart, for all their
sacrifices and efforts concerning my upbringing. I will never be able to
repay them no matter what I do.

I know. That's why I've been trying to help Francis all these months.
Unfortunately, it's very difficult to help someone who won't admit it needs
help and also suffers from such severe brain injuries that reality is but a
dark fog. But, I'll keep trying at every opportunity I get. Maybe you can
help also in this worthy cause?
