Chris;
Not a dumb question at all.

Look in the bottom left corner near the start button.
Hover over each until you find "Switch between windows"
Left click it.

:Press the windows key on your keyboard and tab
and there is also a shortcut on the quicklaunch

check your system time--your post is coming up with the wrong time stamp.

I have Vista installed with the Aero interface. I have seen this
demonstrated in a computer store but don't know what it is called or how it
is done. What I saw was that several programs were running and they were
displayed in a 3d manner which allowed you to select the one to bring to the
foreground. Something similar to what Alt + Tab did on Windows XP. I
wonder if someone could tell me how to achieve this.

If you are having problems finding this, it is possible that you are not
running the full Aero interface. Are the tops of the windows translucent?

You need to have the Quick Launch Tool Bar opened also

Thanks to all who responded - I have seen this working now on my system. In
particular thanks for noticing my system time was incorrect.
