Hi there.

I have XP Home right now. Just wondering, if I formatted my hard drive and
put Debian (linux) on it, therefore deleting XP (to prevent operating system
confliction), would I be able to install XP again when I get rid of Debian?

Just want to find out for sure before I do anything like that, as I need the
computer all the time.

Thanks

Yes. You can format your drive, install Debian, remove Debian then
reinstall XP Home provided you have the XP Home disc and that you're using
the same computer. However, a better solution might be installing Debian
alongside your current installation of XP home. After installing Debian, on
each bootup your computer will ask you which operating system you wish to
use. After entering your choice, the computer completes bootup into the
operating system you selected. Nevertheless, the Debian installation may
not provide this feature. In this instance, you will have to install a
separate program for this function after installing Debian. The separate
program is available for free from many sources on the net. You can begin
at www.linux.com.

Good luck!

If your interest is looking at Linux and not concerned with a specific
version - go to "Knoppix"site and download a CD version of Linux which is
run from the CD and does not require installation on the hard drive.
