Junk Mail Filter Doesn't Work

Dave

I added (e-mail address removed) to my junkmail list yet mail from
this vendor continues to arrive in my in-box.

I checked my Junk Email options and this email address is listed in the
Blocked Senders list. It is not in the Safe Senders or Receipents lists.

Normally when I add someone to the Blocked Senders list all of their email
goes directly into the junk mail folder. Yet this vendor's mail continues to
show up in my inbox.

Does anyone know how they are defeating the junk mail filter and if anything
can be done about it?

I do not want to contact the spammer directly because often you end up on
even more spam lists.

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

I have had similar experiences with some email accounts. When I went into
my rules and ran that rule, it deleted the email from the inbox but I never
figured out why it went into my inbox in the first place. If you ever
figure it out, please post it here so I can implement it also.

The first thing to realize is that the value you see in the From field has
nothing to do with the real sender address. The from field is not really
used for anything other that a pretty display. Good network client mail
systems make sure that the From field and the sender address match, but
SPAMmers are not good citizens.

A more effective way of catching that address, provided you see it
frequently, is to use a rule that looks for "traderslibrary" in the headers
and either move it to the Junk E-mail folder or simply delete it.

Thanks for explaining that Brian.

Several people I've talked to had this problem and did not know a solution.

Thanks again

Brian,

Thanks for the explanation. It clarifies things for me but I don't
understand "traderslibrary". I did not see that in any rule or any header,
could you explain further.

Perhaps you don't but Dave, the person whose thread this is, did see it. I
was answering Dave, not you and your problem certainly isn't the same as
Dave's.
