junk email filter update installation

Hi you all!

I tried installing (from OFFICE update page) a junk e-mail update to my
outlook 2003 and I got an "Unsuccessful Installation" error message.

In a separate instance I received Error 2902 message.

I would like to update the Junk e-mail filter list, these spammers are very
creative to skip around the filter. Can I just go to the OUTLOOK filter.txt
file and add the miss-spelled keywords these guys use?

Thanks

No and what operating system are you running? (don't forget to include the
service pack level)

OS is WIN XP PRO

On a second computer, more or less same issue. At home I have WIN XP Home -
Office 2003. Adult content e-mail shows regularly in my Outlook inbox (not
even in Junk e-mail folder). Terrible situation with my 10 year old!
I already installed latest OFFICE Service Pack including Junk e-mail update.
When I went to the FILTER.txt file I noticed that there is only a handful of
keywords included to detect. Isn't there a way to edit this file add other
words?

Thanks neo and have a great day.

The file FILTER.TXT is an information-only file (i.e., changing it is
pointless, since it only describes the strings recognized by the Junk Mail
filter, it doesn't control them) and applied only to earlier versions of
Outlook (i.e., not OL 2003). Only Microsoft can update the Junk Mail
filter.
