Junk e-mail filter with Hotmail

Help!
I have my outlook 2003 setup with my hotmail account. I
have turned off the junk e-mail filters at the hotmail
site and I want to turn on my junk e-mail filters on
outlook but EVERYTHING is still coming thru even on the
strictest settings....what am I missing??
Please respond to "rk_holt(remove this)@hotmail.com".

Hi Rob. I haven't used OL2003 but I doubt that this has changed from earlier
versions. Namely, rules don't apply to mail downloaded via http (as opposed
to POP3), which is what Hotmail and Yahoo use. This has been true for both
Outlook and Outlook Express.

The only way around this that I'm aware of is to use a proxy on your
computer that understands Hotmail and will download it and then forward it
to the normal POP3 port for retrieval by Outlook. One example of this is
Hotmail Popper http://www.boolean.ca
