Jumping cursor

I am making a list using columns and while I am waiting to see what word I
will type next, the cursor ramdomly jumps to another place in the list. Why
does it do this? Does it have anything to do with using a laptop as this
doesn't happen on my desktop? Thanks for any help.

Yes. The touchpad on laptops is often very sensitive. Even if you're not
inadvertently brushing it, it may respond to subtle jars (such as typing).
If you're not using the touchpad (you have an external mouse plugged in),
disable it. Otherwise, decrease the sensitivity.

Alternatively, if you have voice recognition enabled, Word can be picking up
ambient noise (even internal computer sounds).
