How do I update my damaged JRE 1.3.1?

My computer is brand new , how come my jre is damaged?
anybody knows that can help me.

Greetings --

The Java Runtime Environment isn't standard on WinXP
installations, so you'll probably have to download it from where ever
you got it the first time, and then reinstall it. As to what caused
the damage, we've no way of knowing, because you haven't told us
anything about your computer, its installed applications, or the uses
to which you put them.
