.jpg files are saving incorrectly, I am manually renaming them why

Hi, I've used FP 2000 and now Im using FP 2003. When I used FP 2000 and
inserted a file with a long name such as adapter a.jpg FP2000 would save it
as adapter_a.jpg which the program is suppose to do, but with FP 2003 it
saves it as adapter%20a.jpg and when I upload the file it doesn't show on my
web page, just a box shows. So now before I insert a .jpg file from my hard
drive I need to rename it to adapter_a.jpg to get it to work. I really don't
want to do this extra renaming step. Is there a setting I missed or is this a
FP 2003 bug? Thx in advance.

Hi Mark,

The %20 means there is a space in the file name. You will have better
results rendering if you name all of your files without spaces. Additionally
you would also have better results if you first import your pictures into
the images folder in your web..and then insert them into pages from that
folder rather than directly from a location on your hard drive.

Joe, I know I have a space in the file name. This wasn't an issue with FP
2000 it handled it by inserting _ between the spaces . Do you know why this
changed with FP 2003. Thx for the prompt reply. I guess I need to make my
file names lonnnnnnnng and meaningless.

Hi Mark,

It's been so long for me since I used FrontPage 2000 that I just don't
recall the way the naming convention worked..either way though saving pics
directly into a page from a hard drive can cause some issues.

Not sure what you mean about long and meaningless names though...can't you
name that whatever you would like?

I don't remember 2000 inserting an underscore instead of a space
automatically.
IrFanview can help the OP batch rename files very quickly.

Mark - As I understand it, having spaces in the file name disrupts search
engines, which is not a factor with pictures. I use FP 2003. I have a
hiking website with thousands of pictures saved with spaces in the names and
have never had a problem. I do make sure I have no spaces in other file
names, directory names, etc.

Neither can I - but if it did, why would Microsoft remove such a (useful)
function from Frontpage 2002/2003?

Which of course, suggests FP2000 never had that function.
