A jpg attachment I can open outside of Outlook is not able to be open
as an attachement---WHY?

I posted this a few days ago and can't believe no one in this group
has experienced this!! Well, I do know of one, but he also has no
solution.

WHat happens when you try? What is the exact text of any message you get
when you try? Have you verified that the Windows Folder Options settings
for jpeg files are correct?

When I attempt to open a jpg file attachment in Outlook, I get
"application not found" error. If I save the file, I can open it
with
no problem. I can open other types of files with no problem (Word,
txt) I don't know how to specify the viewer type in Outlook.

Version Microsoft Outlook 2002

Use Control Panel's Folder Options>File Types to verify the open operation
in the file association.

That did the trick. Thank you!!

Now, I suppose that Vista will change the way you do that
relationship, so I hope you are around in the next year or so when I
have to do it for Vista!!

I'm afraid it's going to be a long time, indeed, before I try Vista. Unless
I need to buy a new PC, it won't happen. I just can't see paying the
usurious prices Microsoft is forcing dealers to charge for just the OS.

I have a long list of file types in the folders options, HOW DO I VERIFY THE
OPEN OPERATION IN THE FILE ASSOCIATION.

Thanks for your help and time.
