JPG as Wallpaper

In display properties only the BMP files can be previewed. The JPG's are

I applied both reg edits to no avail
I also cannot "set as desktop background" JPG files in explorer, nothing
happens

Looks like Active Desktop restrictions are set.

Click Start/Run and type REGEDIT. Navigate to the following key:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop

Export each key to separate REG files, and post the contents here or to my email address.

The last 2 keys were not ther as you can see

Thanks for posting. Do you see a White screen in the Preview window? Run this command and restart Windows:

regsvr32 /i shell32

This restore missing/incorrect registry keys, one of which fixed is the ActiveDesktop COM registration.

No, but I think it started today when i was messing with the registry trying
to fix the other (display properties) problem. Yes just yesterday i saved
files to desktop and created folders as they were saved
