Jpeg Repair - Who Knows How?

G

Graham

My HD crashed and lost its partitions. It is running XP. In the end I added
another HD and ran a unitiliy which grabbed all the Jpeg family pictures
from the damaged disk and stored them in a folder. A lot of the family
pictures were recovered and I can open most of them but some seem to be
corrupted. I tried a couple of utilities online to see if they could repair
the images but none produced any results.

If you know how to repair jpeg files, please extend some help!

There is probably nothing that can be done. If data is not present then you
will be out of luck. Do you still have offending drive? Can you run the
application again to see if you get different results?

In all likelihood, the corrupt ones are gone for good. Valuable lesson
learned...never depend on a hard drive for long term storage of
irreplaceable data.

Depending on the extent of the damage, you may be able to Photoshop
them. But it's a lot of work.

If you need them bad, take the hard drive straight to a data recovery
professional.

Restore them from the backup cds you made.
