.jpeg printing as black box

I am not sure why but when I insert my company logo in .jpeg format I can
view it in the word document on the screen but when I print the document the
logo shows up as a solid black box. Any help a clues would be much
appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Tim:

Company logos are sometimes prepared by graphics companies that don't have
the first clue about working with Office software. They may have provided
you with a graphic set in 48-bit or 36-bit colour.

If they have, Office software can't handle it. If that's the case, you
should look for a competent graphics shop. (In the meantime, open the JPG
in a graphics program and save it as RGB colour (24-bit).

The other alternative is that you have set your printer driver to "Force all
colours to black". This is an option in some printer drivers, and its name
varies from company to company.

I suppose it's also "possible" that what you *think* is a JPEG is in fact
something such as an EPS or a WMF file which "contains" a JPEG. If that's
the case, it may also contain a "bounding box" which is an (invisible)
filled rectangle the same size as the graphic. If that filled rectangle
gets transposed by a document corruption, the graphic can go the opposite
colour (black) and sit on top of the image.

The cure would be to pull the graphic out, save and close the document, then
put it back in again. I don't think that's it, though. If there were
anything really wrong with it, you wouldn't be able to see it on screen.

Hope this helps

You're more than welcome :) (And it's great when someone comes back to let
us know: kinda makes it all worth while...)
