JPE vs JPG

David

I just switched computers and my Internet explorer went from 5.5 to 6.
Now when I download an image from a web page it will not open in
PhotoShop 3.0. I see that there is no way to change the extension of
it's dos name. I was at a friend's house and he was running IE6 and
all his images had the dot jpe so all we did was change the e to a g
and then PhotoShop would open it. But on this computer I am on the dot
extensions do not show and adding dot jpg does not help. How can I get
IE6 to download the photos as .jpg or at least in windows 98 show the
extension so I can manually change them.
I hope someone can help, please also email your reply to

Hi,
From Windows Explorer> View (or Tools) go to Folder Options> General> View.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."

Then from Folder Options> File Types> JPE> Advanced, put a check by "Confirm
open after download" and by "Always show extension."

Or from Folder Options> File Types> JPE, you may have to click on "Restore
default."

Hope this helps,
Don
