joystick compatibility problem

just installed windows XP and my joystick (sidewinder
precision pro) is incompatable with XP. it worked very
well on windows 98. Is there any thing i can do or will i
have to buy a new joystick?

You can get basic functionality for this device because the drivers are
already in Windows XP, but the software for mapping keyboard buttons to
controller buttons isn't available. To use the device do the following:

1. Connect the device to the gameport
2. Start -> Run -> Control Panel
3. Switch to "Classic View".
4. Run the Gaming Options control
5. In Gaming Options Click the "Add..." button.
6. From the list choose "Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect)"
7. This should install your device.

Try this...
Goto the Game Controller Control Panel
Then Add, Microsoft Sidewinder (auto-detect)...


Please note that any Profiling software that came with the gameport hardware
won't work as that was not designed for Windows XP. There are currently no
plans for updates.
