When I try to join Windows XP to the domain (Server 2003), I get error message: The following error occured attempting to join the domain "domain.com": The remote procedure call failed.

Any ideas? what is the problem?

what account are you using to add the XP machine to the domain?

is there a computer account by the same name already in the AD? if so you
may need to remove this.

Connectivity to the LAN is OK is it?

And, just to be sure, you cannot do it from XP Home anyway

- I use Administrator account to connect to the domain.

Does the account you are using have permissions to add a computer to
the domain? Just a straight "Administrator" account on the local
computer won't work for that. You probably need to use a Domain Admin
account to accomplish it.

more information:
the win XP and Server 2003 are in different network! When I put both machines to the same network, there is no problem! Between networks is firewall, but it support all protocols..

Whoa...I have a glimmer of what your problem is, I think, but I'm not
100% sure without knowing this: are you trying to set up this machine
to logon to both domains? Is that what you mean by "between networks"
oand "different networks?"

Of course you can't take the XP machine on Domain A and join it to
Domain B. It can only exist on one Domain at a time. You CAN enable
it to logon to either Domain, but you need to do that from the
Servers, by establishing Trust Relationships between the domains.

Oh, by firewall are you actually referring to a router? That's
another important piece of this puzzle.

You may be better off taking this problem to a networking group, as
it's not really related to XP in general. This is fleshing out to be
more of a networking issue.

Have you checked the RPC service is running on the xp box?

By different network I mean that win XP pro's IP is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and Server 2003's IP is yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy.

win XP is not a part of any Domain, only part of workroup.

thanks, I take this problem also to the networking group..
