Joining or Logging into a domain

I know that XP Home can't join a domain, but can log in to a domain and
access shared files.

What can't you do if you are logged in to the domain but not joined to it?

You won't get any of the centralised services such as account/
password administration, logon scripts or Group Policy.

Nor are you actually "logging in" to the domain. You are merely
passing credentials from the Home computer to the Domain controller
for validation.
