I am trying to joing a winodws XP pro box to my newly built windows server
2003 domain. I am getting the following error message:
----------------------
"The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location
(SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain
tlmicro.com:
The error was: "This operation returned because the timeout period expired."
(error code 0x000005B4 ERROR_TIMEOUT)
The query was for the SRV record for
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.mydomainnamehere.com
The DNS servers used by this computer for name resolution are not
responding. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the
following IP addresses:
172.16.1.200
172.16.1.100
Verify that this computer is connected to the network, that these are the
correct DNS server IP addresses, and that at least one of the DNS servers is
running."
---------------------
Before you all go crazy on me. All machines are up to the latest service
packs and patches.
Connectivity is not the issue. I have tried turning off the firewall.
The 2 DNS servers listed are both DC's and have the requested SRV record in
the error message. But for some reason they are not sending it or it is
being blocked some place . I have read several post on this subject but
can't seem to find a useful data. They all say check connectivity and the
DNS record both of which I have.
What am I missing??
