Joining more than one network.

Dear All,
I purchased my son a laptop (OS is XP Pro) last week, he is off to
University next month.
We have a small hybrid peer to peer network at home, being two thin
ethernet buses (BNC connectors) and a few RJ45 ports using Cat 5 UTP
cables.
My son's laptop has an inbuilt ethernet card and uses a UTP cable to
connect to the network in my office. In his bedroom he uses the thin
ethernet connection with a PCMCIA card and BNC cables.
Good old Win XP Pro recognises the two and switches to which ever is
connected when it boots up.
At University he will have the opportunity to connect to the
University's intranet using the inbuilt ethernet card and a UTP cable. I
presume he will connect via a domain system to the University intranet.
Do I disable the current network connection to the inbuilt ethernet card
before he goes, and let XP sort itself out when he gets to University?
Can I set up a "dummy" connection for him to alter to the correct
settings when he gets there?
I am keen to keep the "home" connection setting so that when he does
come home again he can simply plug into the home network and work/surf
etc without too much re-setting of parameters etc.
Advice please.

THe net at his U will depend on what U he attends. I can
assure you that if he needs help there will be help
available. As for keeping the current net settings, don't
worry. If it recognizes the network now it will also
recognize it tomorow.
