JK: I confused HD w/aspect ratio...

in that, while HD implys 16:9, 16:9 does not necessarily
imply HD... which is my situation. I've checked the
ShowBiz doc and there does not seem to be a 16:9 choice
anywhere, certainly not as obvious as in MM2 if it is
there.

Since my input video was 4:3 and my output is apparently
4:3, and the result looks just fine on a normal TV, I'm
not going to worry about the squishing on the wide-screen
TV at the moment -- I'll check the doc for the wide-
screen DVD player and see if there is a control that will
force the 4:3 aspect ratio.

Thanks again to all here for the "continuing ed".

It sure helps when you read the manual -- it turns out
that there is a "Monitor" button on the portable DVD
player for "Normal"; "Zoom"; and, "Full" display modes...
it's my daughters device and I had trouble locating the
manual, but it was obvious once I opened the manual.

Sorrry for the false alarm.

Yes I completely agree, I mentioned HD because you seemed to think that
it was that, that was the problem. The WMV HD definition requires a data
flow up to 7 times greater than that for DVD, and the point I was making was
that it had nothing to do with the aspect ration.

I also said that if you save your work using a 16:9 ratio then when that
work is imported into your DVD software and a disk made, if the resulting
video comes out as 4:3 then your dvd software has messed up your video.
