How to handle mixed aspect ratios when importing data into MM

Hi

I have a question on how to handle mixed aspect ratios in MM2

My input (from my Canon MVX3i) are mixed 4:3 and 16:9
My planned output is 16:9 for my DVD player.

My problem is that it seems like MM2 don't automatically switch
between the different aspect ratios. You have to set that prior to your
import. That's not possible for me because it is mixed (yes I know
that's not smart but hey .. that's reality)

As a workaround I tried to load the tape twice - once for each of the
two aspect ratio settings. That's time consuming and in addition
it's very hard to determine which the right aspect ratio is.

Does anyone have experience with mixed aspect ratios?

Is there a smart workflow for this?

Is there alternative software that can determine the aspect ratio at
import time?

Thanks for your comments!
