javascript

I am using XP Sp2. IE 6.0 and sometime it will not run javascript on some
websites. HTML does not seem to cause a problem. The javascript sometimes
will run, but most of the time it will not do anything when the link is
clicked. I have turned off all firewalls, virus programs and any other
unnecessary programs. I installed Netscape and it worked a couple times and
it quit also. Any ideas?

Dear Frank,

Thank you for your prompt and useful help. It worked. But something
that happend I need to explain. After I removed the V3 of Java as you
suggested the IE (V6) did not work. Fortunatelly I had downloded the version
you mentioned into my computer before I removed the older version. After I
installed the new version I am getting no error messages. Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Cem

Do you have a site I can look at?

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/nhp/default.asp?contentid=28001169
or
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...43-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

(WinXP users who have problems with 2a and 2b, see
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm)

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

4. See also

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

5b. Find the hijacker that caused 5a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):

Nothing happens when their logo is clicked.

I can reproduce your symptom by setting Security level to High.

Set Security level to Default and turn off popup blocker if any.

To see this site you need enabled or allowed by prompt:
1. Popups for this site allowed (or temporarily allowed).
2. Active Scripting
3. Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
