I am trying to access a site that requires a site certificate. On my Windows
2000 computer (w/IE 6), I import the certificate and the site runs fine.

I have a Windows XP computer (w/IE 6) I'm migrating to. When I visit the
same site (I imported the certificate here too) I don't even get a grey box
where the applet would have ran. Instead it gives me a display similar to
what you'd expect from a missing image (box outline with the "X" in the upper
left corner).

The site support only offered a generic message saying:
"Please activate the Microsoft VM or install the version from SUN (up to FRE
1.4.1)."

I do have the JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled. I also have the JRE
under internet options enabled. If I can get the site below to work that
would cure my problems (its not the site I mention above but its the same
symptoms).

To see a sample of where there should be a grey applet box see this site:
http://www.fitwise.com/testjava.asp

I get the missing image box where the applet should be.

Any ideas??

Thanks,
Karl

I posted earlier, but this is just to simplify what I really want.

If I can get it so the following site works, I'll be really happy:
http://www.fitwise.com/testjava.asp

I'm running Windows XP with IE 6.0.

When I try to test my browser with the site above I get the box you get for
a missing image link (box with little x in the corner). I have JRE 1.4.2 and
its enabled in the options.

Thanks for the help.

Part of the problem is the site I really want to access doesn't support that
JRE. The site posted a reply saying:

"Please activate the Microsoft VM or install the version from SUN (up to FRE
1.4.1)."

It worked fine for me and I have JRE5.0 or 1.5 whichever you want to call
it.

JRE5.0 or 1.5 is actually the same as the latest 1.4x, according to the Sun
web site. They just changed the name.
