Javascript problems

This problem is driving me nuts. CERTAIN Javascript statements on
websites do not work for me. These are usually Javascripts that open
a little window, but it is not 100% restricted to just that type.
Some Javascript works fine. Funny thing is, some Javascript that pops
open a window works okay. I use a tiny bit of javascript on my own
website to open a child window to display something and that works
fine for me.

By not working, I mean if I click on some link that is a Javascript
statement, I get no response for some types of Javascript. Like I
didn’t even click on the link.

I have XP SP2 (same thing with SP1) and IE 6.0. I have also tried
FireFox and have the same problem, so it appears it is something in
Windows, not a browser problem.

I have downloaded and installed Sun’s Java with no improvement. I
found an article in Microsoft’s Knowledgebase that covers "Javascript
doesn’t work on one website" or "Javascript doesn’t work on any
website" and I’ve done everything recommended with no improvement.

I’m at a loss. I don’t relish the thought of having to format and
reinstall, but it has gotten that bad. There are some websites that I
can’t even use.

As you sleuth this, be aware that JAVAscript and JAVA are two entirely
different critters.
Name URLs / JS links that do not work for you and perhaps someone will
check them.
