I just recently bought a dell laptop & installed Windows XP Pro on it, now
for some reason, it seems like javascript uninstalls itself, I've run the
windows script 5.6 several times, but everytime I turn the laptop on, & go on
the internet & try to click on a javascript link it says that javascript
isn't installed, I've also run norton anivirus, windows defender, & mcAffe, &
it says no spyware or viruses, so what do I do? If it helps my internet
browser is internet explorer 7 RC1.

IE7 related issues should be posted to the internet explorer newsgroup.

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

Or on the web at:

Actually, it's effecting windpws aswell, so far without java script, I can't
use the user accounts screen, the search screen, or the help & support
screen. also, I even tried using two different browsers, & it does it with
those too

You have way more wrong with your computer than just a problem with
Java. Java isn't involved at all with any of the operating system
functions such as the User Accounts applet, Search, or Help & Support.
All those items work perfectly well on an XP box that doesn't have Java
installed.

Unfortunately, there is no way for me to know what is causing your
problems. Since you've apparently ruled out infections, here are a few
suggestions:

1. Uninstall IE 7. I believe you need to follow certain steps to do this
and since I don't use this beta program, I don't know what they are.
Either Google for "uninstall IE 7" or do a search for that in Google
Groups Advanced Search and constrain the search to the IE 7 newsgroup.
That newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general.

If uninstalling IE 7 doesn't help, then do a Repair Install:
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

And as always in troubleshooting: The First Question Of Troubleshooting:
what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?

Jason,
You might go to Sun Microsystems and down load Java,
It used to be free but I don't know if it still is or not,
