Java's site was no help w/removing or installing

As for your other suggestion, of trying to install the older version
that
Java's site shows that I have, I'll try that. Altho I just don't see
it
helping, but who knows. I'll be back, otherwise.

Certain files need to be in certain locations for the uninstaller to
work properly. Reinstalling the program will place those files back
where they belong.

It has been stated many many times NOT to copy the spam when indicating a
message is spam.
The word spam describes the post. No other indication is required. Many
poster have been severely criticized for
copying spam when responding.

So much for that idea. When I click to try to install the older version, a
message window displays -"This software has already been installed on your
computer. Would you like to reinstall?" I click YES, but another message
displays -"This action is only available for products that are currently
installed."
Hence, my dilema...as I keep getting conflicting messages. Either way, I'm
screwed. This is ridiculous, because I can't use anything that requires Java.
Next suggestion/idea, please?

Two suggestions:

First, try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

If that doesn't work, try JavaRa:

Good luck!

1st suggestion, was a bust. However, your 2nd suggestion was one I do recall
being mentioned, in this drawn out discussion. I just got around to
installing the JavaRa & it worked. Imagine my delighted surprise, when I was
finally able to remove all older Java & install the latest. So far, so good.
Thx, to all who tried to assist!!!

Way to go!

Glad to hear. You won't have to worry about that any longer now that
Java removes versions down to 6.10.
