Thanks for the quick reply. It is now working, I installed "Firefox w/java"
to see if it would work (it did) I then loaded up IE and it now works
also....isn't Windows wonderful :)

Take care and have a great day!!

I went to the Mustang site, uninstalled java 5, downloaded and installed JRE6
Beta 64 bit but there is nothing in the Control panel or IE7 about Java.

Install the x86 Java as well. The one for 64 bit won't give you any Java
functionality in IE7. In fact, I only installed the x86 one on 5728 x64.

Aha! Jane The Brain thanks! I'm downloading it now. If you hear no more
you'll lnow that all is well in this little corner of Guatemala (unless, of
course, I've dropped dead with shock at having a lady put me on the course to
true enlghtenment). Colin

Sad but true. Both versions now installed but still nothing in the control
panel or Internet Explorer after a restart. Help please O Wise 1! Colin

Control Panel > Additional Options > View 32 bit Control Panel items
....another box should pop up with the Java control panel applet.

That's most odd. In a previous build I installed the x64 Java first, then
installed the x86 one and it worked straight away. This time round I only
installed the x86 one. All working fine.

No, not there. The only thing there is Text to Speech. HOWEVER I was just
about to write again when I was interrupted by your latest message because -
although I had clicked on the IE in Prog Files x86, it turns out to be the 64
bit version as well - exactly the same file. Hmm... thinks....blank for the
moment Colin

Microsfot don't seem very keen to let me have the 32 bit version, maybe I
should forget about it for a while. My orginal reason for installing Java was
because I thought eMule (a P2P program) was downloading very slowly 'cos Java
was missing but that was cured by turning off Protected Mode so Java is
unimportant for me right now. I do appreciate all your help. Go to bed, sleep
with a halo around your head and dream of peace throughout the land. Colin
