on my site I have java applets.
The one above is an applet from another web site. I've contacted sun and
missingkids. about a year ago, this particular applet just up and quit.

I just got a reply from Sun and they claim it works.

my link from my web site to this thing is here
http://members.toast.net/cbminfo/pat/index.htm
bottom left corner. Displayed the same as the link above till a year ago.I've
reinstalled the OS several times since it quit.

Java works for me on other links on my site ie:
to see the link below
http://members.toast.net/cbminfo/bev/extras/games/jigsaw.htm

it's inside a frame from this page
http://members.toast.net/cbminfo/bev/index.html
the extras link under jigsaws. the concentration game is also java. I think the
'same' game is java too.

Assuming that the missing kids link at the top & the
http://members.toast.net/cbminfo/pat/index.htm
also works in IE6, maybe someone has a clue as to why it's failing me ?
I'm going to see if my Trend maybe has some sort of setting disallowing this
particular applet. It'd have to be automatic cause I have re-installed the OS
several times since this started happening.

I see the Java applet just fine.

hi your problem occurred about the same time microsoft VS Sun was going on,
so maybe this link can help you.
http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html
please let us know if this helps
most of those links are dead. So it was of no help at all.

I did a search and found MSJavx86.exe somewhere, mostly Russian sites nowusing
it as a download.
installed it, and the red x has disappeared from the missing kids applet. But
the other applets I mentioned now completely fail with windows red x'es.

It's either or but not both it seems.
Well even that isn't true since the missing kids applet doesn't even showup as
an error now.
Sure like to know how sun get's the missingkids applet to work. I was using the
sun java. It doesn't work for me at the missingkids site, or on my site.

Do the links I provided at my site work for you ?
Oh the same game, is probably something other than java. all my java games are
dead now except the 'same' game.

yes your site works for me, I am not having any difficulty with your links or
anything.
but it could be I have both sun and ms java running. and they work good
together. if I only use sun's I can't access alot of web pages. maybe the
problem lies elsewhere, I can say good thing I made a back up of msjavx, or I
wouldn't be able to access much without it.

by the way you can also search on www.majorgeeks.com for java that may cure
your problem. when I posted the other java link, there were several others
that came up in my search. just make sure that any java downloaded is enabled
or it wont work.

I'm working on it. Seems to me something like this should be an auto on by
default setting.

Well keep on looking . both are not working now.
