IE6 win98 Java doesn't work

This problem is of running Java applet using IE6... and
it works fine running NS 4.7 and is driving me crazy all
day///

Some History:
I had a problem that messed w/ my registery last week...
when updating RealPlayer to ver8..
Then I went to MS to check for IE6 security updates and
ran the lastest..
By automatic procedure...ole' mcAfee Anti Virus auto
updated me..
THe next time I reoorted I had a black screen error
something about Real Virtal IOS error?
Anyways Took the computer a Win98 SE to the local Tech
shop... they used ScanRegedit or something like this to
bring back the last Registery what they said..

My problem is JAVA APPLET doesn't run// I use a lil
propgram wizard called or from www.Anfy.com
to display JPGs in a book like flipper// they have a
PREVIEW in the wizard that test the code using IE6... and
it doesn't work
The same with my website.. www.avian-adventures.com
the Java applet shows a outine of the image and a small
icon at the top left corner similar to those if a image
files is not found on a web page..

IF I USE NETSCAPE the above link Java works fine..

The Anfy company was assisting me with the problem and
said its not there code.. but a IE6 problem..

I have went to MS and downloaded the IE6 and did a
overwrite and completely reinstall of IE6
I went to java.com and downloaded the VM stuff.. again
I have gone into IE Tools/ Internet Options and set
Security to Medium, clicked on CUSTOM/ and enabled all the
appletes etc..

I am lost and confused why and what next... and hope
someone can help me with this..

Hi Rod - You can test whether Java is working on your machine at the
following

Be aware, however, that after Sept. 30, 2004, MS will apparently no longer
be distributing Java or providing any support for Java including
security fixes. (It's unclear as to how 6/26/03 court decision will
affect this) See here:

Sun also offers an automatic download and install of the 1.4 Java

For the MS Java VM, you may need to install v.3809 prior to upgrading
to v. 3810 if you didn't previous have MS Java v. 3805 or 3809
installed.

If your OS is Win2000 SP2, SP3 but NOT SP4 then you can download and
install the MS Java VM v. 3809 from here:

For Win2000 SP4, you'll need to re-install v.3805, from here:

download as Pop.zip. Just unzip it and then execute the resultant
msjavx86. This is the only version that I know of that will re-install
under SP4.

For all other OS's:

Download and install the MS Java VM v. 3809 from one of the links here:

Both Java VM's can co-exist on your machine quite nicely. Just select
which one you want to use in Tools|Internet Options|Advanced and restart
all IE browsers. Here, courtesy of Michel Gallant, MVP Security, is a
tiny utility which allows you to toggle and view status of your current
Java VM vendor associated with IE:

A note from Mitch Gallant:

"One note about the JVM Selector utility:
If/when you install a new version of Sun J2SE, you need to manually
select to have Sun JVM as default JVM for IE (in install), or after
install
via the JavaPlugin control panel. This generates the necessary win32
registry
entries, which must be present for the utility to know about JavaPlugin.
After that, the utility should work properly."
