Java VM

I just reloaded Windows XP Home on my laptop and of
course XP doesn't have Java. I downloaded Sun Java and
it will not work, I have had nothing but problems getting
it to work right on my computer. Any ideas for a
different java that can be downloaded or if someone has
downloaded the Java VM from Microsoft before they quit
using it, any help would be appreciated.

They still have it on their server. They just won't tell you where.

Try:

http://home.ix.netcom.com/~jmrubin/msjvm.htm

This just redirects to:

+

"v3-19990518/cabpool/msjavwu_8073687b82d41db93f4c2a04af2b34d.exe"

(combine the two different strings)

but that URL is going to probably get messed up by the Usenet servers.

Here's the information for the latter URL

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Content-Length: 5319000
Content-Type: application/x-msdownload
Last-Modified: Wed, 02 Apr 2003 01:26:36 GMT
Accept-Ranges: bytes
ETag: "6aa4ee7b6f8c21:fde"
Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0

Connection: close

By the way, if you download an old version from somewhere else (say
somewhere you found with a Google search) THEN you can update to this
version through Windows Update. Microsoft can update you; it just
can't give you a new copy.
