java virtual engine question

a friend uses real estate mls site, but it gives error because there is no
java on his xp system so he asked me to help, so we go to sun's download
site and try to get it via aol dial up. I wasn't able to get it to install.
Keeps hanging.
Is there a way to get it on a cd or floppy or something, and do the install
from there?
