Could someone with more knowledge than myself guide me. I acquired a Virus , which I used PcCillin 2005 to remove. Afterwards I found I could not use any fuctions which need Javascript.
From the Control panel the JAVA Icon has disappeared.... I have looked thru windows setup for an option to re-install, but can't see anything.
So the problem, How do I re-install Javascript on Win XP home edition with SP1 and 2 installed, and how do check that it has been 'properley' removed, rather than just trashed, if that's neccessary..

Thanks so much. for any help.

Go to run, type:cmd In cmd type:jview The screen text will either show data,
or not,if no,its removed. To reinstall, download mjvm from search results from
msn or google, then update it thru windows update once installed.

I have now managed to reinstall JAVA from a support disc, which came with the PC... but I still have problems, I have the feeling that windows scripting is not working, because,
Pressing start >help and support doesn't open the help files.... but they are there on the hard drive , all 947 of them,
If I go to s site like ebay, anything requires a payment etc, cannot be accessed- java works and is installed so is it Windows scripting.?
Going to any site that uses *.js files to open a new window do not open, although the hard drive 'flicks'..
Any clues how to repair those links- it would be nice if I could just get to Restore, so I can restore to any early date.
Any offers of guidance please???

turbo i had similar problem i had to recover my comp with the recovery
discs and my java was inactive although my computor said it was working...i
had to download a new java from the internet ( i can give u the website if
needed) then all worked well although a little slower that norm when i
initially went into page..the vm ware that microsoft used to send is no
longer active so if u run xp with service pack 1 and 2 u may be having the
same problems...look for sunjava on the net that should get u back up and
