Java/Flash/etc

I have just installed XP SP2 in a new computer and tried to keep downloads
of other programmes to the bare minimum. I find now, that I can open most
pages withour problems, like say The Times; but with the Guardian and the
Daily Mail the mouse has little control and find scrolling down difficult as
the pages hanga nd then jump.

Could this be because I do not have Java/Flash and others installed? What
is the minimum that I must allow for easy IE viewing?

Thank you

It could be you have a slow connection and the pages have not completely
loaded as you try to move down the page. Try waiting for the page to
finish loading before navigating.

No, it happens every day. I open newspapers and always have the same
trouble with the same newspapers. I wonder if I should download Java or
anything similar needed by rthe web pages.

Can you help there?

Perhaps you can ask the folks in the internet explorer group. Since you
don't mention any errors or other issues related to Windows Xp, that
would be a better place to troubleshoot internet explorer issues.

If those newspapers need Flash or Java, then of course you should
install them. But if that's true, I'd expect SOMETHING on the page to
tell you that.
