Having trouble posting today so I hope this isn't an
inadvertent double-post. I have a new Dell laptop that's
running XP Pro. I tried to access a website that involves
a real-time media link. The site sought to load the
required java aplets as it's always done. In the midst of
loading it came up with a dialogue box telling me that I
needed Java Machine something (I'm not looking at it and
I've got a head like a seive). Anyway I needed a java-
running plug-in. I clicked "download" in the dialogue box
and it routed me to a MS window. When I clicked download
there, it told me I needed Jave in order to download
Java. It went on to explain about the legal settlements
with Sun and how MS will support the Sun products until
August of this year. It even offered to link me to the
free Sun download.
Do I want to go with the Sun download? Is it "the real
thing?" Or should I hold out and keep trying to find the
MS-supported software? I'm not writing code or designing
web-ware. I simply want to establish a streaming-media
link to a real-time media site.
Thanks.....
