You will need to purchase the full version and do a clean install. You
cannot upgrade from one language to another.

You cannot change the language in the OS. You will have to buy and install a
full version of XP and either do a clean install, wiping out the Japanese
version, or set it up to dual boot with either of the versions.

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
WinXP (in whatever language you want) to perform a clean installation.

Many thanks to all for the advice. To clean install do i have to
delete anything? or just put in the new xp professioanl disc?

Also If I buy an english xp in japan, would i also be able to install
it on an english computer in the u.k.as well when I return there?

Thanking you. John West.

A clean install will delete everything on the drive! It makes no difference
where you are, an English version is that, a Portuguese version would be
that. It makes no difference where you are.
