i've got an annoying problem

i need help with this if anyone can,when i select a user at the welcome screen my keyboard locks up,and the screen goes black except for a blue box in the middle that has these words in it "out of range 85Hz/53kHz". at this point i can reboot the Pc and it doesnt happen on the second try,but i dont want it to happen the first time,so what do i do?

The "Signal Out of Range" error is your monitor telling you
that it's no longer receiving any usable input from your video card.
You, or someone else using the computer, may have set your display
settings to something that your monitor cannot handle.

Boot into VGA Mode and then set the display (resolution, refresh
rate, and/or number of colors) to something that your monitor can
handle. Consult both the video card's and the monitor's manuals for
details.
