I went into help&support this morning and downloaded a
critical patch (can't remember which one), I do this once
or twice a week and download anything there. Well since
then I cannot get anything much, no Internet explorer, no
OE6 and I tried to re-install the XP Home but it won't
have any of it. I managed to get into the 'scan for
critcal updates' again and it gave me the following eror
(ERROR 0x800C0005) I am in England, sitting here totally
distraught not having a clue as to what has happened and
my norton has gone, and my adaware. Is there anyone at
all that has any technical knowledge and able to help, if
so, I would be very grateful as it has taken me all day
to be able to get here. (that's 11 hours)!!

Hi

What kind of XP CD have you got? Depending on that type the following
article by MVP Michael Stevens will help you perform a 'Repair' install:

Thank you Mr Denny for replying. It is a Windows XP Home
Edition version 2002. It is the full version that I put
on last summer. I formatted the c drive and then full
installation. It is legally purchased (never ever ever
used anything else) Hope I have made sense. Is Michael
Stevens repair compatible?
So kind,

mary

Hi

Yes, you can use Michael's repair install details. If you had an OEM XP CD,
then it wouldn't have worked.

Why do you keep telling people they can't do a repair
install with an OEM CD??
