Hey,

Some of you may remember me posting before xmas with questions about a new system... well now it's finished! I'll get pics soon.

G0 Q6600 mounted on a Asus P5K Premium with Thermaltake Maxorb CPU HSF,
2 GB Corsair RAM rated for 4-4-4-12,
one 80 GB Maxtor HDD Sata 2 for OS,
one 250 GB Maxtor HDD Sata 2 for everything else.

Case is Thermaltake Tsunami Dream.

It's all blue and glowey and it runs FREAKIN SWEET! (and quiet too!)

Now I just got to sort out the mouse for vista... seems to have some driver incompatability with my BFG OC2 8800 GT.

Mouse stalls now and again for a few seconds if left idle...

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for all the help you guys game me when I was first asking about my new system!

Best bit was that after I put it all together, it worked perfectly, first time. The only mistake I made was using a bit too much thermal paste on the cpu-hsf contact.

Nice work!

The Q6600 is such a great processor :) Have you overclocked it at all?

Yeah I upped the FSB to 333 giving me 3GHZ with the 9x multiplier =D

Really stable, and the MaxOrb is keeping it at <25 degrees on idle (although the room isn't that warm anyway...)

Oblivion looks amazing on the 8800GT. I can do full HDR or 8x Anti-Aliasing with a solid 60fps. That will change once I install a high-rez texture mod I imagine...

Now I just got to install the "usefull" software (open office and stuff like that).

Didn't manage to solve the mouse conflict so I bought a Vista certified one, and I'm going to RMA the other one proberbly (it says it works with vista on the box, but it doesn't. It's a pain even to get it to detect, and even then it freezes every 10 secs or so for about 1 second...)

It sounds like the mouse good just be faulty, so the RMA should sort it :)

I'm running at 3Ghz too and it flies along :D
