Gurus,

What do you do when you delete an icon from the QuickLaunch Toolbar but it
keeps coming back after you reboot your computer?

Well that would be rare and a program could have a toggle to add it to
the Quick Launch and then check for it every time it is ran. What is the
program(s) anyway?

Exactly what part of the Taskbar are you referring to?

The Quick Launch Toolbar is normally found on the left hand
side of the Taskbar next to the Start button. It contains
shortcuts to programs installed on your computer. The shortcuts
are usually stored in this folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\"YOURACCOUNT"\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

The portion of the Taskbar next to your clock is called the
Notification area. The icons in this area can represent
programs that are launched automatically at startup. If this is
where you're seeing icons reappearing then you should launch
the program and see if there's an option within the program to
prevent it from launching at startup.

If you're still having problems, you might want to post back
with more information including the name of the program that's
causing this problem.

Good luck

Spin, if this is Quick Launch and NOT Systray (Notification area) try
this...

Quick Launch: Place cursor in area where it doesn't highlight an item
(raised box around it), right click, then select "Open folder" in menu. If
unwanted shortcut is there in that window, delete it. This may be more
permanent than a delete from the Q-L itself.

As near as I can determine, items placed in Systray are not deletable unless
creating program is uninstalled, or some apps have the option of
displaying/removing item there. If item is here...

Systray: To get whatever it is you don't like there, to make it "out of
sight, out of mind", right-click clock, select "Customize notifications..."
in menu . In dialog box or window that gets, locate unwanted recurring item
on left; click on it. This gets rectangle around its status to right.
Click on upside-down triangle, then click on what's wanted (show, hide,
inactive).

Let us know if either work.
