"ITEM" attachment to mail

From time to time I like to send contacts I have accumulated from my address
book to other friends within my group. I open a new message, click to the
right of the attachment button and select "Item" and then chose "Contacts".
From here I choose the contact I wish to attach and then send my message. My
recipients are unable to recieve my attachment. They use either Outlook
Express or have a Yahoo account and view mail as webmail. In the latter case
there is usually a textfile attached that gives a MAPI error message but not
my attachment.

Can anybody shed any light on this problem. Does my recipient also need to
use the full Outlook application or is this a general and known problem when
attaching a Contact Item.

Thanks for any help,

Ian.

You are sending them Outlook items. You need to send vCards instead. Choose File | Save As and select the vCard .vcf file format.

Hi Ian,
Try this way,
Open the Contacts folder.
Choose the contact you want to forward ( or more by holding down the Ctrl
button)
Click Actions on the menu bar,
Forward as vCard,
Enter the recipient address and send.

Thanks very much for your replies, I wondered if "Item" was purely an
Outlook thing and so it is. vCard is clearly the way to go, thanks again,

Ian.

Just one last thought, is it possible to run Outlook Express and Outlook on
the same machine. I appreciate that both applications will be collecting
incoming e-mails separately but this can be overcome by leaving a copy on the
server in the options of Outlook.

Thanks,
Ian.

Hi,
You can run both, but if both Programs are open, the incoming mail will
go to the one which is set as default Mail-program. If only one of them is
open the
incoming mail will be received there.
Rgrds,
