We have a server running Windows 2000 Server, Service Pack 4, with all of
the latest security patches installed. It is running version 1.4.2 of the
JVM, and version 2.3.3 of Allaire/Macromedia JRun. Recently (after the
upgrade to v1.4.2 of the JVM) the JRunservice has been randomly stopping
(about once a day). Has anyone experienced this? Any insight is greatly
appreciated.

You say you are using version 2.3.3 of JRun. My experience has only been with version 4 of JRun so what I am going to say may have no bearing on your installation. All I know is that JRun 4 is not supported fot the Sun JDK 1.4.2 and above. At least that is what they told me last year. For version 4.

But I suspect the JRun server dies as soon as you try to serve an ASP. If you can test that you'll know. See if the Server stops in a day if no ASP pages are accessed during that time. If it doesn't stop during that time, I believe you'll have your cause. If it does anyway, then try the macromedia group. They are more familiar there with JRun then here:

Bill ,

You may want to try Servertec Internet Server, www.servertec.com. It can not
only run servlets and jsp on any platforms that supports Java 1.1.x and
later, but it can be used as the servlet engine for any server that suppots
ISAPI, NSAPI, AOL Modules, Apache Modules, CGI and Java, including Windows
2000 Server and IIS.
