Issue with Outlook sending multiple meeting invitations

I have an issue with Outlooks sending multiple unnecessary meeting
invitations to my invite list for a meeting. I notice that I will continue to
see meeting acceptances from the same people multiple times (usually 3 within
the course of a couple of hours) and I see in my sent tray that the same
meeting invite is sent multiple times. I'm not sure what is causing this
issue.

I will set up a new meeting request in Outlook 2007 and send the meeting to
my invite list. I change nothing in the meeting request yet Outlook will
send additional instances of the meeting request to my invitees. And from
their perspective they get multiple invites of the same meeting request which
they then need to accept.

Any idea what is going on and how to fix this annoying problem?
