issue with deleting large size folders

If I attempt to delete dvd data (so about 5gigs) from a folder by
right-clicking in explorer my pc crashes (asks to send error report)

If I lasso the folder then delete (use the del key), it's ok

Anybody else have this issue

PC
Win XP SP1 with latest patches
1 gig RAM
3.2 GHZ P4

Have you installed any "memory boosters"? Are you allowing Windows to manage
virtual memory?

How large is your hard disk and how much free space? Is the drive
partitioned?

What do you mean by "lasso"?
