Carisma

Hello,
This is my first time that I want to install an ISA server
on one of my 2 DCs,
Domain & DC configuration :
Domain :W2k,We don't have Web server,We connect to
internet by set a proxy server address and a DSL modem
that connected to the local network,We will take a public
IP address(class A) for conecting to internet and we must
have a firewall, local network IP address is in range
192.168.54.x
Master DC :OP W2k server,Exchange server 5.5,DNS server,
one network adapter
Second DC : OP W2k server,Print server,one network adapter
Questions :
1- Which Dc is better for installing ISA server?
2- Can I install Isa server on second DC?
3- How many extra network adapter I need?
4- Is it possible that I dont change the local addresses?
5- Which type of ISA I must select?
6- How many array we need?
Could you please help me about ISA server installing?
Thank you.

1. It is never good idea to install ISA on a DC period. Install a dedicated
server for this, but If you have to, then both DC's are fine.
2. Yes
3. You need one additional NIC in the ISA server. Make sure, that internal
NIC is bound first in NIC binding order
4. Why would you need to change local addresses ? Explain.
5. Firewall mode is mostly ok.
6. you don't need array for one ISA server. If you need arrays you need ISA
Enterprise Edition

You will get the best support for ISA server in ISA server public
newsgroups.

You shouldn't install ISA server on a DC that is running DNS. You will have issues with dns trying to bind to your external NIC....even when you try to disable it. If you can, install isa on the DC that IS NOT running exchange. If you have to run ISA on a DC, put Exchange and DNS on one controller, and ISA on the other.

There are ways to avoid this problem. Read about "listenaddresses" and
"publishaddresses" here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q164488

Then see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;KO;275554 and
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=289735

I am not saying mixing DC and ISA is a good or bad thing.
