At work we had keyboards that have double molding so that the whole
key has to be literally worn away before you can't see the number anymore. Finger nails end up slowly grinding a
groove into the keys. We brought them about 8 years ago and have never seen them since. All are still working.

Yeah, thats what I used to use before the PC era, DEC LK201 keyboards specifically.

Never seen them with PC keyboards.

No worries. Bloody good rates, BTW!

It seems most merchant rates are not publicly available. However I found
the merchant rate for restaurants and caterers, offered by Westpac.

http://www.restaurantcater.asn.au/r...enefits from Westpac/Westpac_Flyer_201106.pdf

Whatever the rate, I feel that the 3% fee charged by Umart is excessive.
Umart has a huge turnover, and most transactions (based on my observations
when I have been to their store) are over $200. That said, Umart are keenly
priced.

Not if you dont have the weight, ****wit.

Thats why I asked "them" for the cost of freight, you terminal ****wit.
If their warehouse dosn't have a set of scales they should just shut their
doors now instead of waiting for the liquidators.
We'll see...

I never ever said that they do anything like that, ****wit.

Last time I ordered on thanks, ****wit.

Thanks for that completely superfluous proof that you have never ever
had a ****ing clue about anything at all, and why umart made an obscene
gesture in your general direction and didnt bother too much with your
email.

Oh I must have made a mistake....when the manufacturer says that the case
will accept a std atx form factor sized board, they must have really meant
to say, will fit any size board you want, including packaging.
The fact is that the case I had selected would not fit a MB with packaging
inside without removing drivebays or other...period.

Nope, no problem for them that they dont
have to waste their time with a fool like you.

Your the only fool here rod, u have been for years.
I put you in my killfile about 10yrs ago, proberly at the height of your
insanity.
As always, when you've lost the argument you resort to insults and abuse.
Your a troll & a terminal ****wit.
We'll see if you actually get what you wanted and save anything.

I use PayPal or my credit card. Both of which give me full protection if the

Maybe you should catch-up with the modern way of doing things.
And we'll see if you actually get what you ordered too.

Nope, i am however wasting time w/ this thread.
Thats what determines what profit they make, cretin.

I dont care.
Any 2 year old could leave that for dead, child.

Tad unlikely that I'd be running their sydney operation down if I did,
****wit.

Who said anything about running it, i doubt you could correctly manage your
own life let alone a business.
Perhaps you would be best served in the customer complaints dept.
or maybe the warehouse lacky.....u might even find a set of scales & a tape
measure.
No problem for them that some obnoxious little shit like you ****s off
somewhere else.

I've never shopped with Umart - do they charge the 3% for
in-store transactions too? I can understand 3% for internet
purchases - Most banks charge a couple of percentage points
higher for Internet/Mail/Phone transactions, because of the
greater risk associated with these types of transactions.
(which I don't quite follow, because they charge it back to
the store anyway, so the store gets the double whammy of a
greater charge plus a greater risk).

In store purchases attract a 3% for Visa/Mastercard and 6% for Amex

I have only bought instore

See http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=2

"MasterCard, Visa & Bankcard incur a 3% surcharge. American Express incurs a
6% surcharge."

I often encounter a 2% charge for Amex, but 3% and 6% is terrible

Hi Atec,

What's a "turn back"?

Neither should they be. They're individually negotiated. Often of course
a new merchant will have no choice but to take the rate offered. But
with volume comes a little power.

In countries such as Hong Kong, rates are often less than 1%, and
sometimes a merchant will shop an *individual transaction* around
between banks seeking the lowest available rate.

Even if a bank charges a transaction back to a merchant, it still
suffers costs associated with the chargeback, and the possible two stage
mechanism for disuting that chargeback.

Which is no doubt in breach of their merchant agreement with the bank or

Below is a copy of an email I sent to Umart regarding some components I
intend to buy for my new system.
Further below is their reply, which didn't seem to answer any of the
questions I asked (well, all but one)
It seems they might be reluctant to detail freight & other costs prior to
purchase?
I find it really annoying to have asked seemingly simple questions to get
such a lame reponse!

Has anyone got any positive or negative dealings with Umart they care to
share with me before I spend almost $3k with them?

(BTW, any comments on the system?)

Email as sent to sales Manager.............

Hi,

I have a few questions regarding an order I wish to place with you.
I intend to purchase the components for a complete system.

How much is the freight to the NSW Central Coast (Post Code 2263)?
Does the freight charge include insurance?
Do you offer a build/assembly service for the components I intend to buy, if
yes, cost?

I am after the Intel E8400 CPU which seems out of stock in your shop, can
you provide an accurate
time for delivery, or are you able to transfer one from another of your
shops to complete this order?

Thanking you in advance

I have found UMart Milton to be excellent. Efficient, courteous and
inexpensive. They aren't allowed to show that "Quality Endorsed
Company" logo unless something good is going on!!!!!!!Place a firm
order and they will likely invest the time to enquire as to freight
costs and relay that information to you. You can't expect to give you
exact prices on just an enquiry. Yes they do a system build. On their
website click on "Desktop Computers", then "Customer Configure
System". Select the components you want and click on the "Ok tell me
how much will it cost" box. Enjoy the experience as I have!

I'm sorry, but I believe I can.
After all, most other online retailers list their freight costs up-front.
They should know the exact cost to freight each item or parcel/box.
They have been doing this for a while I assume.
The disappointing thing for me is that I was ready to place an order....I
wanted to buy!
I just needed to know how much!

I did end up buying some of the components I wanted from AusPC Market.
I was quite impressed with the service.
I couldn't decide on a case to buy. The P182 had some issues I was concerned
about with the space for the PSU.
I rang and spoke to a sales person who I found was very knowledgeable on the
problem and recommended a P900 instead.
I placed an order at 3:30pm and it arrived at about 4pm the next day...very
pleased.
Bear in mind, AusPC Market includes the transport cost in their list prices.
When you add the freight costs? plus 3% for credit cards Umart is not really
any cheaper, not on the items I bought anyway.

Thanks for the post. I had heard Umart spoken of favorably & thought their
service may have been better.
Perhaps I got them on a bad day.

BTW...I've worked for a few companies with the "quality endorsement" & it
means SFA.
There are different levels of the standard which apply to that statement &
in some cases all it means is placing stock in certain areas allocated for
received, dispatch & returns & file the paperwork in an appropriate manner.
Mostly, the quality assurance standards will help the business to supply or
contract to gov. dept's. which often require it.
Having said that, the management practices of an endorsed company should be
better than a company not endorsed, & yet its no guarantee that it will be.
(like I said above...it means SFA)
