Is this possible ?

Scientists are trying to contact a British satellite launched into orbit nearly 40 years ago but not heard from since 1996.

The Prospero is the only British satellite to be launched from a UK launch vehicle. A team led by PhD student Roger Duthie from University College London's Mullard Space Science Laboratory wants to contact it in time for its 40th anniversary next month.
He told the BBC: "We have to re-engineer the ground segment then test the communications to see if it's still alive. Then we can have drinks and champagne."

would be unbelievable if it comes off :)

yes, it is possible, providing the satellite is not dead.

Voyager 1 & 2 are still sending back info after their 1977 launch, and they are a few miles away now. :)
