Is this correct in relation to cookie handling from MS?

I've heard and read that if I set my IE browser to 'Block All Cookies'
that cookies still come in and get written to my PC. I done this
myself and found that this is certainly the case.

Is this a bug or is MS allowing this loophole?

I don't want anything written to my PC after running into some nasty
viruses. I've had enough and I've locked down as much as I can find.
BTW I'm running the latest of everything with the latest patches and
fixes of everything and I still get hit. I want to browse the web and
basically set my hard drive to read-only.

You're not going to be able to browse the web and have your hard drive as
read only; it simply isn't possible.

What you *do* need is an efficient antivirus programme. If you are running
XP you need to set up a new, limited user, account and use that for surfing
the net. Blocking cookies will not stop you from getting viruses, malware
or trojans. They are simply text files.
