Would this card be good value for my pc ? I'm worried about power if I go for a better card as I only have a Corsair 520 HX. Me mobo is Asus M2N32 Sli Deluxe and AMD 4800 AM2 cpu. At the moment I have a ATI 1950 Pro.

The above card comes with Company of Heroes is it any good ?

Ta.

If it doesn't beat a 9600GT then its gonna suck, that is really the minimum standard for playing new games at decent frame rates.

8800GT beats 9800GT in most benchmarks, admittedly by only 5%, but its 15 -20% better than an 9600GT, there is no new technology in the Nvidia 9 series.

Get the 8800GT, you will get about twice the performance over an ATI1950.

Now a 4850 is completely different, that will trash a 9800GTX+ and is alot cheaper, most places you can one for £105.

To qwickly simmarise
4870x2
GTX280
GTX260
3870x2
4870
4850
9800GTX+
8800GTX Ultra
9800GTX
8800GTX
8800GT
9800GT
3870
8800GTS
9600GT
3850
8600GTS
9500GT

IS good price, me like, me like. Company of Heroes is awesome, like Command & Conquer in WW2, awesome.

Ok I'm starting to get confused with all the deals out there. I do not want to upgrade my PSU so with that in mind which of these cards will be best for me system.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Thats £85 inc postage with a free game.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...tm_source=newsletter17092008&utm_medium=email

Thats £97 inc postage with a silent heatsink and possibly better than the 8800.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148188

Thats £98 inc postage and silent heatsink.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-095-PC

Thats £120 inc postage with a silent heatsink. Its a HD 4850 512 MB so this is obviously the best card. Will my Corsaire HX 520 psu be able to handle it though. An is it worth the extra £40 over the 8800 .
I don't play games all the time so lower power consumption would be good whilst surfing etc.

Any suggestions at all would help to dispel the confusion.

They will all use the about the same Wattage, 200W at full load, so you should be fine with your current PSU.

8800GT 256MB £54 delivered and its in stock as of today,

Upto you mate the HD 4850 is a very good purchase as it will beat a 9800GTX, but if you don't need the power then the 8800GT will be fine as its about 140% faster than your current card and about 20% slower than a 9800GTX.

Just don't buy a 9800GT, 8800GT is beating it in most benchmarks as they used the 8800GTS 512MB and upped the clocks. Nothing new in it at all.

HD 3850 Pro

Either is big upgrade just depends on what you want to spend.

Thanks for helping clear up the power usage aspect WF. The 8800 256 just won't do as I have a 24 " monitor and will be playing at 1900 x 1200 .

The Powercolor 4850 reviews are sounding great as the card runs almost silently, very tempting. The 8800 GT is half the price when you take into account the free game.

Darnn ! I hate buying bits.

Do I spend more money and get silence or do I go for the free game and slightly less performance. Darn ! choices.

Yes I'm pretty well tooled up ecept for the graphics card. Tomb Raider looks fab on a 24" monitor especialy since I paid the $5 for the Gildos enhancements.

Hope I did the right thing , ordered the 4850 from overclockers. It should arrive on me birthday on Monday. Nearly went for the 4870 but the £50 extra was a bit too much loot for me poor old pockets.

Good news, i doubt you will be disapointed, the 4870 doesn't have enough of a bang to justify the extra £50 and i've read that it can get over the 85C mark.
